What is a
childcare co-op?

A co-op, short for cooperative, does not have a single rigorous definition. Per the USDA Rural Business-Cooperative Service “In general, a cooperative is a business owned and democratically controlled by the people who use its services and whose benefits are derived and distributed equitably on the basis of use”, which describes our goals well enough. A childcare co-op, then, would be a childcare service owned and democratically controlled by parents, guardians, and childcare providers.
